To all our members and visitors. I am Matt Dale and have been appointed to the role of Welfare Officer at Northchurch Tennis Club.
I have lived in Northchurch with my wife and, now grown up children for 20 years. I have been a member at the club for over 10 years generally playing with family and friends. I also stumble around the cricket and football pitch.
I work as an HR Director for an engineering company based near Uxbridge.
Welfare Officer Role Description
The Welfare Officer is responsible for promoting safeguarding within Northchurch Tennis Club and working with others to ensure a safe and inclusive environment is achieved.
Main Duties
· Work with others in the club to promote safeguarding, diversity and inclusion and ensure compliance with the LTA’s minimum standards.
· Work with others in the club to ensure safeguarding and diversity and inclusion information, including policies, reporting procedures and details of the Welfare Officer are visible and available.
· Work with others to promote Northchurch Tennis Club’s Code of Conduct.
· Ensure safeguarding and diversity and inclusion is on the agenda at committee meetings.
· Act as the first point of contact for all children and adults where concerns about welfare, discrimination, poor practice or abuse are identified.
· Contact the Local Authority children’s or adults’ social care teams and the police about concerns where appropriate.
· Work with others in the venue to ensure the relevant people at the venue have completed a satisfactory criminal records check.
· Attendance at management committee meetings.
Training
· Required - Safeguarding and Protection in Tennis (or another course approved by the LTA)
Criminal Record Check
· Enhanced DBS Required for this role.
Required
The Welfare Officer must not be a member of the venue’s coaching team and should not be related to a member of the coaching team. The Welfare Officer should be someone over the age of 18.
